Upshur Condos

The Upshur Condos project, envisioned by Guna Collaborative for a successful innovation and design agency owner, is situated at a unique site at NW 29th and Upshur in Portland’s Nob Hill neighborhood. Spanning 15,000 square feet, the 4-story project features three spacious condos. The client’s penthouse occupies the top two levels, while two additional condos comprise the first and second floors. The layout also features a ground-floor garage and three separate entrances for the private residences.

Moving from Forest Heights, the client sought a new urban residence that aligned with his design aspirations while adhering to the lot's zoning regulations requiring multifamily housing. Initially planning for the two condos beneath the penthouse to be rental units, the project pivoted towards creating two high-end condos for the 1st and 2nd floor units.

With a blend of brick and wood exteriors, the building’s façade features varying apertures that cater to the functional needs of each room. On the penthouse level, a spacious indoor/outdoor deck adjacent to the kitchen and an expansive roof deck provides stunning views of NW Portland. Despite the project's complexities, including circulation and structural challenges, the vision offers a sophisticated addition to the neighborhood.
